Instead, we’re treated to the music of relatively famous film composer Clint Mansell, responsible for one of the most over-used tracks in cinema history, Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream. What about the music? Well, I’ve previously expressed my mild discontent with the fact that Jack Wall would not return for the finale. This is the third time she’s saved the human race, only now she’s up against creatures that by rights are large enough to have a group hug and call themselves a planet. Released long enough ago for the world to must be saved at this point (unless you’re in the UK like me in which case it was released today), Mass Effect 3 concludes the epic space opera saga of commander Shepard, saviour of the universe, a relatively miniscule organic being foiling the plans of a race of massive semi-robotic space aliens. Safe to say, it wasn't as good as it could or should have been, but that it's not bad by any stretch of imagination, it even came with a single track that'll surely be remembered. I truly am sorry.I'm not sure whether I had high expectations for the music of Mass Effect 3.
But that doesn't change the fact that I have a strong appreciation for music and its purpose, and I'm not going to ignore this piece just because it's heart-wrenching.
Unfortunately I accidentally found out about the situation that this track only plays for. Ok I really am sorry for bringing up this track but the music is just so beautiful. I don't know what it means because I haven't completed ME2 yet (I'm really close to starting the suicide mission), but I look forward to hearing it when I find out what the future for the krogan will really look like. We came up with some really corny choreography for it and it became an inside joke but even so, it still has a strong, defiant feel to it. My friend and I never would have even known about it if it weren't for the ME3 Texture Pack (soundtrack included) on Minecraft. This is the track that introduced me to the Mass Effect universe. Jack Wall is a genius he knew exactly what to put into that composition in order to capture the exact emotion that comes with the Normandy's (and by extension Joker's) return. It brings me to the brink of tears every time. That being sad, I imagine this track doesn't have quite the same effect as it did on the original returning fans, but I still get a flood of emotion when I listen to it and think about everyone who'd waited two years to fly that starship again. I've only just gotten into this franchise (the first game came out when I was only 6). It seems to embody the franchise!ĭo you guys have any favorite songs to share? it really slams the nostalgia button for the first game doesn't it? I prefer the relaxing piano version played by our friendly neighborhood Shadow Broker to the more artificial sounding Vigil from the first game, but the tune in general is simple, beautiful, and hopeful. John Paesano's theme for the game was really pretty and gave me feelings of curiosity and wonder that should come with exploring and pioneering a new frontier. The game had it's ups and downs but I always felt the music was an up. Mass Effect Andromeda: A Better Beginning The song itself is a beautiful piano piece set against a heartbeat track and gives me goosebumps.Ĥ. You confirm your love and get a few moments of solace just before a dire mission. The hopeful, uplifting tones of this number really make one consider what the future ought to be about and what one is truly living for.Įverybody feels some emotion about that night spent with their love interest in game one. Mass Effect 3: A Future for the KroganĮve was an inspirational force to be reckoned with. It's titled Suicide Mission, but I can't help feeling empowered and unstoppable listening to Jack Wall's genius!Ģ. My pulse races and I'm overwhelmed with feelings of nostalgia and thrill as I listen to this song. Certain songs from the franchise have always invoked the strongest feelings for me, however, and I wanted to share my favorites with you guys. The music of Mass Effect has always made it on my shuffle playlists and I can recall at what points in the video games each song was played.
